Spray foam or batt insulation — which is better?
It depends on the application. Closed-cell spray foam offers a higher R-value per inch (roughly R-6 to R-7) and acts as its own air and vapour barrier, making it ideal for basements, rim joists and tight cavities. Batt insulation (fiberglass or mineral wool) is more cost-effective for standard open wall cavities and attics where proper installation can be achieved. What R-value do I need for my GTA home?
